Shortly after finishing his TV dinner and throwing international the empty tin container in the trash and rinsing off his glass in the sink and finally settling downward at the kitchen table and opening his math book (to rogue 48, exercise 4), Lee Rollins hear a knock at the front door. Before he could answer it, he heard voices as well: loud voices, laughing voices, out-of-place voices, girls’ voices, voices he recognise from school. Sure enough, when he opened the door he precept Carmen, Lisa, and Katie secure standing there, all smiles, like this was the biggest joke in the world or like maybe Lee should shake been expecting them. And despite his incredibly bad manners—he just stared at them as they huddled against the dark November chill—they didn’t lose their enthusiasm.
Hi, Lee! Can we come in?”

In Lee’s defense, it was the middle of the week, and this unannounced and well unthinkable intrusion was not a normal occurrence, steady on weekends.

“Carmen wants to shoot you something.”
As stunning as that last statement was, beguiling Lee to slam the door shut and run and cover under his bed, he did the only thing possible--he let them in. So, seated in his living room with Carmen, a pretty nordic and probably the most popular girl in one-ninth grade, and Lisa and Katie, cheerleaders hed had a crush on since God knows when, Lee mat like a tiny goldfish on display. It didn’t help that the room was a mess.
