Carmen (the worlds favorite opera)

Date: Sunday, ring 18, 2012
Time: 2:30 pm
Location: Samford University, Wright Center
Opera: Carmen, found upon the novella Carmen by Prosper Merimee
Conductor: Emmanuel Plasson
Music by: George Bizet

I arrived at the Wright Center ab step forward 45 transactions early so that I could purchase my ticket. Upon doing so I looked around and was amazed at the number of people that were already there. We were allowed to enter the hall thirty minutes early and my back was on the front row right behind the orchestra pit. I felt that I could have reached out and touched nearly of the cast members. I could even see backstage. I later on found out that this was not such a unspoiled seat because I had to keep looking up at the harbour to read the parts in English, but I was not complaining; Im at the opera, Im on the front row, Im olfactory property pretty good and all is well.
Before the curtains opened, the conductor came out and took a bow, and the orchestra played the overture. After the overture was played the curtains went up and the audience clapped. The setting for Act I was Seville, Spain in the stratum 1820. This was my least favorite act probably because I did not understand what they were saying and I did not notice the screen with the English translations until later.
