Science fiction has never been unmatched of my selected genres of literature that I choose to read frequently, however I have unendingly had an interested in how science fiction authors can characterize the world and present ideas and characters that go beyond the realistic world. I was always fascinated in how these authors can write nearly things that have not been invented yet. In this novel Atwood elaborates on umteen biochemical experiments that exist today. She focuses on the genetic mutation of animals and the novel has several major things such as society, time, science and technology, and education. end-to-end the novel, one can see many similarities and differences between the trine protagonists who are Oryx, Crake, and Snowman.
Atwood decided to use the character Snowman as the main protagonist. The story is told from his perspective and his name is short for abominable snowman which we all both know is a reference to the mythical imitate like creature of the Himalaya. He is also known as Jimmy throughout the novel.



He renames himself Snowman as the novel progresses. He lives in a world filled of highly rational scientifically oriented people and has a depth of judgement that goes beyond the realities of scientific knowledge. While reading the novel one can truly see that Jimmy really feels he is unappreciated and he often fails to connect with many individuals which leaves in a state of frustration. Another protagonist is Crake who is Jimmys peer and top hat friend. He is very smart and has ideas beyond imagination.
