When I first read Shiloh, I had to go back and read the story again, which was frustrating because I had waited until the morning to read the story a second time. I am glad that I reread it though, because it completely changed my prognosis on the story. At first, I looked at it from a shallow-minded perspective. whole I looked at was the main ideas and blew off the rest of the material. When I read it for the second time, I found an appreciation for the lit we were reading. This appreciation came from knowing that this text make me think a vogue the box and question what I was reading. I questioned Normas the true to Leroy and their relationship. Then I realized that this was not happening the way I thought it was. Then there is her mother. That hit me at a personal level because I could relate. She contacts a lot of the people here at school, which she considers alright because she is mother, and is alumni here. I can relate to the feelings of having to build myself up to make up for what I thought others were lacking. I can relate to having to gazump around behind my mothers back because of her prying and need to get involved in everything. Norma has to hide her marijuana addiction and her husband Leroys addiction as well.
