The Amish Way of Life
As I stood and watched the Amish people ride by in their horse displace carriage, I remember how as children, we would laugh at them. We do fun of their clothing and how they never smiled or talked to anyone, just outlet about their business. How shallow we were as young kids not winning the time to understand their culture. This paper will look at the effects of their subsistence, horticulturists, has with kinship in their culture, gender relations and their beliefs and values. Their native mode of subsistence is horticulturalist. The Amish culture is one that lives a very prefatory lifestyle of farming and growing of produce, being mainly concern with preserving their religion and keeping a stable fraternity.
The Amish Kinship dates spur to the Anabaptist movement in the 1500s and separated from the Mennonites in 1693, Good, M., (1990). He says that accordingly there were 120,000 Amish thriving in 21 states and Canada and we know that deed is higher now. Cosgel ,(June, 1993), author of The Journal of sparing History, states that the Amish has always regulated their economic practices according to their interpretations of the Bible and select farming over all other occupations for religious reasons and these precise rules and norms are recorded in the Ordnung, the Amish form of common law. He says that they rejected tractors and other machinery for farming during the twentieth century, deviating from the mainstream farming practices in other ways. Cosgel M., (June 1993), further states that the Amishs resistance to technological transpose in farming is a relatively recent thing, and the Amish farmers were virtually of the first to adopt, and even invent new technology.
