He was the only child, and was really close to his mother, they often went on vacations together while his father stayed home to oversee his empire. Hearst was rattling intelligent, he even attended Harvard, sadly he never took school seriously. He was very close to failing so he decided to try his hand at a newspaper business. George, (Williams father) had also taken over the San Francisco Examiner as a payment for a debt, William was determined to run it with the stunning style of Joseph Pulitzers (his favorite journalist).Hearst went on to purchase the revolutionary York Journal and wooed much of Pulitzers staff away from him. On this radical Hearst built a national media empire. Hearst gained a lot of popularity during the conviction of the Cuban Revolution(1895) his newspaper business sky rocketed, he was very well-known around the country.
Around 1918 Hearst met a silent celluloid actress Marion Davies and began a life long affair while having vanadium sons and a wife on the side(Millicent Veronica Willson), a creator showgirl turned society matron. They later separated in 1926 but never divorced. Hearst and Davies lived together openly and never got married. Davies is also responsible for Hearts success. She soled one million dollars value of jewelry just to get Hearst on his feet whe he began to gather financially in the late 1930s.
Hearst was wealthy and conservative, hated minorities, distrusted Jews, back up the Nazi party, was an isolationist and an anti-communist, loathed President Roosevelt, and hated the New Deal.
