Iconic Kangaroo Threatened by Introduced Predators Spencer Eaton The habitat of the native Australian Kangaroo has been put into further danger with the proliferation of introduced species of red foxes and feral redacts. Dingoes reserve been competing with the kangaroos for 5000 years. Humans further competed with the kangaroo, in part due to the wearing away of their natural habitat for shelter and fodder then the design of towns and cities. Now the fox and feral cat have get a pest and fears for kangaroo habitats are growing further. The feral cat is thought to have been introduced into Australia at the time of European settlement, when food was scarce they migrated to the bush for survival. They are now estimated at 18 million. Sadly, the fox was introduced in 1855 for hunting. The fox has since been responsible for the decimation of a big number of marsupial populations. It is now estimated that there are near 7 million feral foxes. The Kangaroo is a great fighter, it uses its forepaws to gain the piranha and uses its hind legs to disembowelling it. State Governments resolve that conventional methods of poisoning, slam and fencing will not control all populations though in an attempt to protect native marsupial populations including the kangaroo, secure scientific debate continues a big contributing predator to the Kangaroo being introduced in the Kangaroos Habitat, the Dingo.
