Ever since the Civil War, the coupled States has been faced with the aftermath of discrimination against African Americans and women. Many people in the United States believed that African Americans did not belong in society, they were not considered as human beings but as property. They discriminated against them at work, in school, and on the streets. They were segregated from allone else because of their skin color. Americans also believed that women did not afford rights. They had no voice in politics and that their role was to stay at home, cook for their husbands, and take care of the children. They were not allowed to participate into anything that was tie in to men, such as school, sports, and work. As a result, they did not have equal rights. From this came the development of the Civil Rights Movement during the 1950s and 60s.
Many Americans believed that the blacks were an lowly race and as a result, they did not let them cross-file or write because they were afraid that they might surpass them intellectually. They did not require the slaves to rebel against the plantation owners for their unfair treatment. They were not considered to be human beings. They were considered as property to the slave owners and were treated as such.
They were uneducated, overworked, and most of the conviction malnourished. The whites bought and sold them like as if they were a tool. Once they were old and tired they were no use to them and it was time to buy a new slave. I believe that this was unconstitutional and I am ashamed that the government of this great nation did not do anything to stop this unfair treatment.
In the constitution, it states that every man is equal and that every man has the right to life, liberty, and property. alone since the whites considered the slaves as property and not as a man, these rights did not apply to them.
