This is taken from the opening page of chapter virtuoso of Virginia Woolfs Between the Acts (1941). Virginia Woolf was born in 1882, and during the years leading up to World War I, she became a prominent member of the renowned literary group subsequently ???????????? known as the Bloomsbury Group.
