The censored version replaces the N word with slave for each and every time it is used. The problem with this is there is a different connotation between the word slave and the N word. Those words mean completely different things, and dont refer to the same people. The use of the N word is critical to the story, because it is a word that can only explain the narrative of African Americans. There can be Spanish, Canadian, French slaves, but only African Americans fall into the category used to lodge the N word.
